1. The WILLIAMS family migrated from Bristol, England, and settled at Glenluce near Castlemaine, Victoria. James William WILLIAMS was a boiler-maker who came to search for gold, but did not find any. He hanged himself 21/10/1865 leaving his wife (who survived him by 21 years) and 9 children to fend for themselves. 2. The GREENOUGH family travelled from Wigan, Lancashire to settle in Footscray, Melbourne Victoria. The Pioneer Family consisted of-- Henry GREENOUGH (b.3/1/1858, Wigan, Lancs., England and his wife Margaret BERRY (b.5/12/1856) Wigan, Lancs., England. Their children were- Swithen -b. 17/5/1877, Wigan. Mary-Alice--b. 13/11/1879, Wigan. Richard Henry--b. about 1881, Wigan Jennie---b. about 1884, Wigan. Thomas Henry--b. about 1888, Wigan. Henry-- B. 1889, Wigan. Edith Helen--b. 13/8/ 1892, Port Melbourne,Victoria . Robert Edwin--b.7/2/1896 Port Melbourne, Vic. Robert Edwin was born posthumously. Henry GREENOUGH, his father, was a stone-mason by trade, and went to Western Australia to seek work, but died of fever at Geraldton and was buried there. His wife, Margaret, ran a boarding-house in Footscray after his death. It was here that my grandparents-- Edith Helen GREENOUGH and David Alexander WILLIAMS met and were later married.
